Ms. Rozina Jumani

Ms. Rozina Jumani

Rozina Jumani, an Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences, ZU has been teaching post grad and undergrad programs.

She has an MPhil, MA in Education & International Development from IOE- UCL London, MA in Linguistics from University of Karachi and Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management from Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development.

As a Development Consultant Strategic Planning & Capacity Building, she has been associated with education, training and development for the past two decades. Ms. Jumani has been developing programs for private, NGOs and government institutions. In particular, she has conducted professional development programs for novice and experienced professionals for private and public institutions.

There are several books and academic and research work on her credit and presented papers in national and international conferences and summits. She led early years Curriculum Development projects for the ministry of education and led monitoring and evaluation teams for institutional audits as well.

Her research interests include critical thinking in language development, leadership for 21st century, research methodologies (particularly narrative inquiry and action research).

Ms. Amna Akbar

Ms. Amna Akbar

Ms. Amna Akbar is an Academic English Instructor at The Language Centre, FLAHS. She is also a managing editor of the Journal of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences published by FLAHS. She received a Gold Medal for securing 1st position in her master’s in English Linguistics from the University of Karachi.

She spearheaded numerous resource planning and development projects for the faculty at The Language Centre. She has also participated in the design and finalization of the curriculum for compulsory English courses that are now taught across Ziauddin University.

Her research interests include Media and Critical Discourse Analysis, Phonology and Sociolinguistics and recently she presented her research paper at The International Conference on Media Science and Digital Communication 2021.

Ms. Yusra Jawaid

Ms. Yusra Jawaid

Ms. Yusra Jawaid is an Academic English Instructor at The Language Centre of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences since May 2021. Before joining Ziauddin University she worked as an Assistant Manager Quality Control at Information Technology Services. Besides that, she has been engaged in content and research-based writing.

She has earned her Master’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Karachi. Her research and teaching interests include Media Discourse Analysis and English Language Teaching (ELT).

Ms. Sidra Tauseef

Ms. Sidra Tauseef

Sidra Tauseef is Academic English Instructor at FLAHS. She secured a gold medal for Master’s in English

Literature from University of Karachi. Since then, she has been engaged in teaching English language and

literature at various institutes of repute, including Karachi University, Greenwich University and DHA

College for Women. Apart from her professional duties, she writes for children and also enjoys an

earnest game of scrabble.

Mr. Muhammad Naeem Riaz

Mr. Muhammad Naeem Riaz

Mr. Muhammad Naeem Riaz has been associated with the Language Centre of Ziauddin University as an Academic English Instructor for more than a year. He earned his Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Karachi with 3rd position in 2020 and is a certified trainer of Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

As an additional charge, he is supervising the students’ affairs of the College of Languages, Literature and Culture. His research areas include Modernism and Post-Colonial criticism and he has presented his papers at several national as well as international conferences.

Ms. Ruqiyya Qayyum

Ms. Ruqiyya Qayyum

Ms. Ruqiyya Qayyum is an academic English instructor at Ziauddin University Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She is currently doing her M.Phil. in English Linguistics from Iqra University and holds an M.A. in English Language Teaching from Government College University, Lahore. Ms. Ruqiyya has also done her B.A. (Hons.) in Linguistics and Literature from the University of Karachi.

Ms. Syeda Maryam Zaidi

Ms. Syeda Maryam Zaidi

Ms. Syeda Maryam Zaidi has been associated with various universitIes including Bahria University, University of Karachi, NEDUET university, and Usman Institute of Technology for more than eight years. Recently she rejoined Ziauddin University as an academic English Instructor She holds the following degrees: M.A (English Literature), M.A (English Linguistics) and MAS(HR) from the University of Karachi.

Her research interests include Folklore Studies, Ancient Near East studies and written communication in ESL students. She presented her paper at an international conference of classical studies in December 2021 at Ostim University, Turkey. Currently, she is working on a project on Regional folklore with Prof Simon J Bronner (University of Wisconsin).

Over the years, she continues to teach and at the same time learn from her students by using cooperative learning approaches.

Ms. Sobia Javed

Ms. Sobia Javed

Ms. Sobia Javed is an Academic English Instructor at The Language Center in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She is an M.Phil. research scholar in the field of applied linguistics and English language teaching (ELT). Her areas of research interest are pragmatics, assessment, linguistic identities, multilingualism, and metacognition. Currently, she is working on understanding the grammatical aspects of different languages. Moreover, she holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Karachi. She has been a part of The Language Center since December 2021.

She has conducted studies in the areas of Teaching English as a Second Language, Cross-cultural linguistics, Pragmatics and Reading strategies. She is an enthusiastic teacher who focuses on task-based learning and interactive learning.

Ms. Javeriya Ahmed Hussain

Ms. Javeriya Ahmed Hussain

Ms. Javeriya Ahmed Hussain is an Academic English Instructor at TLC (FLAHS) since December 2021. She has worked as a full-time co-operative lecturer at Jinnah University for Women and also served as a visiting lecturer at Jinnah Intermediate College for Girls. She has experience of working with ORIC as an administrative assistant as well.

She is the first position holder of M.A English (Linguistics) from Jinnah University for Women. Moreover, she is an ongoing research scholar of M.Phil from Iqra University and is currently conducting research on machine translation post-editing and training sessions for ESL learners. Her research areas include computational linguistics, corpus linguistics and discourse analysis. Her research papers have been presented in the national symposium and international conferences, furthermore, her research has been published in HEC recognized journals.
